E-volve Auditions Sept 06

WORK PORTFOLIO
Title: E-Volve Auditions
Client: Duke of Edinburgh Awards organising committee
Video & Edit onto DVD

On Saturday 30th Sept, from 9.30 am - 3.30pm, in Jongleurs Camden Lock. Young people arrived to audition to be MCs and comperes for the Youth Arts Festival (presented by the Duke of Edinburgh Awards London) at the Barbican on 25th Oct.

This year the Arts Fest presents a combination of diverse and exciting workshops, industry seminars, performance and culminating in a spectacular performance and live art event in the evening. Young talent has been drawn from all over the Capital through partnerships with London’s most respected and up-and-coming arts organisations including the Whitechapel Gallery, Serpentine Gallery, Hackney Empire, Honey’s Dance Academy, Turbelles Performing Arts and Boy Blue to name just a few.

I was there to document the auditions (HD video). Towards the end the organiser (client for another job) says to me, can you edit all these into 5 mins to project at the Private View please. Of course I'd have preferred if I knew ahead of time what I waas documenting it for, so there is a focus, some angling shots or structure to plan for. But hey, such is the job on the run. I usually find it easy to be brutal about edit cuts but this particular weekend I had a splitting migraine and was fighting off a flu bug. Anyways, thankfully the dvd was done, client is pleased as punch, and it shall be projected in the Barbican as well.

Video (might) be added to this blog later.
